The OFL- Occupational Disability Response Team recently received additional funding from the WSIB to promote disability prevention services across Ontario.

The funds enable ODRT to develop and deliver a new Work Re-integration training program in 17 Ontario communities during the months of October and November.

Participants attending the training will examine legal obligations and expectations for accommodating injured workers. They will also review the latest research on work re-integration and new WSIB policies and services to promote successful return to work outcomes.

As well, ODRT will hire 4 Disability Prevention Facilitators to assist workplaces in developing leading RTW policy, programs and best practices. They will conduct follow-up consultations with participants attending work re-integrartion workshops and promote the use of ODRT workplace-based training and facilitation services. These including a RTW Situtiatonal Assessment, Leadership Strategy Session and customized training for RTW Committee members, front-line supervisors, and the general workforce.
Seating is limited so be sure to book early to secure your spot.

The OFL-ODRT has scheduled advanced worker's compensation workshops, as part of its Prime Series Training, to be held October 24-29, 2010 in North Bay.

These workshops prepare injured workers and their advocates to better understand worker and employer rights, obligations and benefits available through Ontario's worker's compensation system. They also provide experienced advocates with a better understanding of terminology used in reports and journals and scientific principles and protocols used to support appeals and occupational disease claims.

Worker representatives will also learn the elements of an effective return to work program and legal provisions that can be used to establish a program in their workplace. Course fees cover all instructional material, meeting rooms, guided instruction, refreshments and certificate of completion.
